social media platforms

Twitter-
Twitter is   micro blogging platform used by many to talk about many different issues. Recently it has become synonymous with political campaigns such as that of of President Donald Trump.

Facebook-
Facebook was one of the largest early social media platforms. People can use Facebook to talk to Friends, update their profiles and follow celebrates and pages which align with their interests. This website can be used to share photos, or "status updates" which are essentially something that someone wants to tell everyone they have as a freind about.
Advertising via facebook is very advantageous as that it contributed to so called "Participation culture" Henry Jenkins 2006. This means that people will share the advertisements that companies distribute which means that they can reach more people free of charge.

Tumblr-
Tumblr is very similar to twitter although it is more exclusively targeted towards young people. Much in the same vein as twitter it can be used to share text based posts photos or GIFs to each other.
As well as this tumblr offers integration with other people with niche interests through the use oftheir tag system and their looser restriction on what can be posted.

Instagram-
Intagram is a social media platform that is used exclucivly for photography. This means that you must have a photo avalable to post to this site. Much like twitter and tumblr this website uses a hashtag system in order top cator towards seperate interests and their are many acounts devoted to films, tv shows and music artists that people may have an interst in.

Snapchat-
Snapchat is a very unique social media platform as that it is far more personal to the individual using it. Every peoson who becomes a contact to another on snapchat has to send a request which ois then aproved by the other. This means that everything sent out is to a selct group of people who you know. As well as this snapchats flagship feature was the "story" which is where someone posts significant or funny moments from their day. This is then deleted after 24 hours of being avalable for all of their contacts to veiw.

crowd funding and crowd sourcing

What is crowd funding?

Crowd funding is where a creator pitches a product online giving a product as well as a Target which must be reached before the product can be made. This method of unding takes advanage of he global reach that new projects have due to onlie technoligy bein avalible around he world.

What is Crowd sourcing?

Crowd sourcing is where a creator gains the personnel and equipment necessary for the production of their project via the Internet which allows them to connect with people all around the world who suit the needs of their projects via globalism.

What is Globalisation?

Is the process of international integration arising from the interchange and exchange and exchange of products, ideas, politics and in particular pop culture.
Globalisation is also seen as a way in which international boundaries that  once existed are broken down by the advent of new technologies.

Two great examples of globalisation is the migration of food chains such as Starbucks and McDonald's to countries like India and China as well as the increased popularity of Indian Bollywood as well as Japanese Anime in countries in the west.

When a product has the potentially to reach a new audience (the equipment and budget) then this is called the projects "global reach." Products now have a much larger global reach due to the advent of the internet and particularly You tube in terms of media products.

Global village:
Global village is the idea that physical boundaries between countries owing to new media technologies and that because of this the world is now one big village. This theory was devised by Marshall McLuhan.
