Twitter-
Twitter is micro blogging platform used by many to talk about many different issues. Recently it has become synonymous with political campaigns such as that of of President Donald Trump.
Facebook-
Facebook was one of the largest early social media platforms. People can use Facebook to talk to Friends, update their profiles and follow celebrates and pages which align with their interests. This website can be used to share photos, or "status updates" which are essentially something that someone wants to tell everyone they have as a freind about.
Advertising via facebook is very advantageous as that it contributed to so called "Participation culture" Henry Jenkins 2006. This means that people will share the advertisements that companies distribute which means that they can reach more people free of charge.
Tumblr-
Tumblr is very similar to twitter although it is more exclusively targeted towards young people. Much in the same vein as twitter it can be used to share text based posts photos or GIFs to each other.
As well as this tumblr offers integration with other people with niche interests through the use oftheir tag system and their looser restriction on what can be posted.
Instagram-
Intagram is a social media platform that is used exclucivly for photography. This means that you must have a photo avalable to post to this site. Much like twitter and tumblr this website uses a hashtag system in order top cator towards seperate interests and their are many acounts devoted to films, tv shows and music artists that people may have an interst in.
Snapchat-
Snapchat is a very unique social media platform as that it is far more personal to the individual using it. Every peoson who becomes a contact to another on snapchat has to send a request which ois then aproved by the other. This means that everything sent out is to a selct group of people who you know. As well as this snapchats flagship feature was the "story"
which is where someone posts significant or funny moments
from their day. This is then deleted after 24 hours of being avalable for all of their contacts to veiw.
